New Anthology: Call for Proposals and Submissions

Call for proposals and submissions to
THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME COMICS ANTHOLOGY*

(*not, ‘the greatest comics anthology of all time’)

Ninth Arts Press, the people who brought you “Show and Tell: A Collection of Comics about Teaching and Learning,” and also some mini-comics, is seeking proposals and submissions for our next collection:

THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME COMICS ANTHOLOGY!

We are looking for short comics stories with one thematic requirement: your story must be titled (or could reasonably be titled), “The Greatest *(Fill in the Blank)* of All Time.”

TONE AND APPROACH:

Fiction and non-fiction welcome. Irony and sincerity welcome. It can be the Greatest (something really important) Of All Time, or the Greatest (something completely trivial) Of All Time. We will, however, certainly prefer stories that make creative and entertaining use of the medium of comics, over comics-style illustrated essays about why this is or that is the Greatest this or that Of All Time. In other words, we prefer non-fiction that reads like,… well, fiction.

We’re picturing stories from 4-8 pages, but that’s not set in stone.

The deadline for finished art will be June 1, 2012.

Please consider proposing your story in advance. We won’t be making any final decisions on the content of the book at the proposal stage … but it’s a chance to make sure we’re all on the same page as far as theme goes, and to avoid repetition of “Greatests.”

The Greatest Rock Band Of All Time, for example, is already taken.

Stories should be maximum 8-pages. Black and white or grayscale please. We are planning a 6×9 book, so format accordingly. More detailed technical specs will be available shortly.

Renumeration: $10 per page for accepted material…a pittance, we know, but we believe cartoonists should be paid. (This will NOT confer any rights to the material from creators to us, other than use of the story in this particular anthology )

Please contact us at ninthartpress@gmail.com. with proposals and any questions; we look forward to hearing from you!

Dan Mazur and Jesse Lonergan, editors.
